Why only do make up? Why only do some? Take me down to the water And wash it all off, and then some If you don’t make it stay put It’s gonna be a mission Take me down to the water And we won’t say what we’ve done Careful now Careful now Careful now It’s all done on my account When it’s all on the line When it’s feeling just fine Take it up to the mountain And offer it up, and then run If they won’t tell you what’s up I gotta feeling it’s done Take it up to the mountain And we won’t say why we’ve come Careful now Careful now Careful now Careful now It’s all done on my account

Fire 02:57
Don’t give up It’s just a fire in a paper cup Pouring gasoline on the flame Don’t walk away I cut the wire just to make you stay And lock the door going the other way Well it’s an emergency it’s not an emergency if you wait and see with me Don’t give up It’s just a fire in dixie cup pouring gasoline on the flame Look away Burn the bridge on another day Look me in the eye just to say Oh it’s an emergency It’s not an emergency If you wait and see with me

Lie 03:36
Everything they told you, is a lie Everything they told you, is a lie Oh my Everything they told you, is a lie The radio, and the land lines And the walkway In the hall The turnarounds Forget me nots A burning bridge A radio, a radio So burn the books And look me in the eye In my eye Oh my Everything they told you is a lie Everything they told you is a lie Walk away in the hall Turn away after a fall The river bend and the black outs Burn the books And tell those fucking crooks They can’t steal your lines They won’t steal your lies They can’t steal your lies Oh my Everything they told you is a lie So burn the books And tell those fucking crooks They can’t steal your lines They won’t steal your lines

For the rest of my days I’ve made it for sure That I don’t even know how To make it alright And bring it all home with me I’ll be around I’ll be around Foreign affairs have led me to think That I don’t want to know more But I’m gonna do it right Make it all come to me I’ll be around I’ll be around

Currents hung like jewels The crown begins to bend Red the mouth and hands A gluttons favorite end Heavy were the heads Pectin spread the jam Now, a barren stare Shape of an ampersand Summer’s calling Oh, still calling me Summer’s calling Oh, still calling me Queen Ann’s lace, dressed so fine Court and curtsied, bow and bent They were at my eye And I had the days to spend Turn your face from me A broken collar scent Summer’s calling Oh, still calling me Summer’s calling Oh, still calling me We filled the cages On our own Tried to save the sands Built the barricades Stone by stone Walked the pier to wash our hands Walked the pier to wash our hands Summer’s calling Oh, still calling me Summer’s calling Oh, still calling me

On the rhythm of the fallen gone All in one, calm down We’re not on the run Green turns to red and yellow Cold warm color mellow in the wind Sinking into bed Claim the pillow for your head I was the one for you I was the one you knew Forest runs trail off into the dark Fire in the mine Calling your name Tear along the dotted line Step inside and they’ll be fine Sinking into bed Claim the pillow for your head I was the one for you I was the one you knew You have A way with words And they are gone I was the one for you I was the one you knew

He threw his arm around my neck In his sticky hands Quarters nickles dimes I had four singles and a five And the king of coins Does a little dance And we laugh until the spring I needed this hooray I needed this today He tugs my sleeve we go outside And listen for the birds Cardinals robins wrens He climbs his favorite tree It boughs and bends He turns his face to me And it’s good to be alive I needed this hooray I needed this today I needed this hooray I needed this today
8.
I see the shapes Bend and slake Off your hands And float off into thin air You find yourself The one to blame Eyes turn down Face into olive color spare Wide up yourself Don’t cede the rain Wait for the sun Peak, then hit the trees Then you start shaking In all the wrong places Head down take a breath Heart starts racing Reed in a river Please, learn to bend I seat your brave Why don’t you? Tired and left behind Like two birds caught in a cage Then flew in all directions And landed Right from where you came Light up yourself Don’t start to blame Now after all these years Pretty please Then you start shaking In all the wrong places Head down take a breath Heart starts racing Reed in a river Please, learn to bend I seat your brave I seat your brave Why don’t you?

Fatal Eyes 04:25
So you say it’s all the making You and I and all those Who would say it’s all gonna be a loss And the angels omens All tell the little lies And you won’t re-aim my fatal eyes Saying how we are faded out You are Feeling sad and sore and tired We believe in fortune She is gone but that’s what it means to belong You might want more You might say so You might want more But you won’t know
10.
Rabid Blues 02:27
Go ahead and put a little sugar in my bowl baby It could make me satisfied if just for a while mmm hmmm Go ahead and sing me a sweet little song ‘Cause what could go wrong? It could calm me down Calm me down But nothing’s gonna get rid of these rabid blues I’m howling at the moon and foaming at the mouth Sitting in your feet ’till you kick me out Howliing and foaming at the mouth Sitting at your feet ’till you kick me out Nothing’s gonna cure these rabid blues

about

Equal parts rock, folk and quirk with enough country thrown in to offer an occasional high and lonesome feel, Jude Marie’s Accidental Sun is the handiwork of two lifelong musicians: Kent Jolly and Paul Cauchi. The two met in Indianapolis 30 years ago and began writing together.
They also recorded and performed with various other musicians in Indiana where they were founding members of the band The Gerunds. Their musical influences are wide-ranging, from Elliott Smith, Kurt Vile, and Talking Heads to Thelonius Monk, and Billie Holiday.

Kent, a multi-instrumentalist, graduated from Mills College with a degree in music and has an extensive background in recording and writing.  He has worked on projects as diverse as experimental tape music and on video games such as The Sims, Sim City and Spore. He even collaborated with acclaimed artist and producer Brian Eno.

After writing and performing with the Gerunds, Paul graduated from Indiana University with a literature degree with a focus on poetry. He studied with Pulitzer Prize winning poet Yusef Komunyakaa where he learned a dedication to precise language and commitment to constant revision. His writing style varies but blends abstract imagery with more overt language.

Despite geographic distance, both have collaborated on their new record Accidental Sun, which features Kent’s vocals and all other instruments except Patrick Spurgeon of Rogue Wave’s expert drumming.

Kent lives with his family in Berkleey, California, while Paul lives with his in Miami. Both have pets that never tell them to turn down their music.
